Here to another rare blog post.
Today it's about exercising and having a good lunch, and not forgetting the company!
It's always rewarding to start the day bright and early, and with a good exercise. Today was about intervals, running 400m and taking a short rest in between before running another 400m.
Managed to do 5 rounds before I surrendered my white flag (at least I didn't vomit blood from the running!)
Afternoon is spend at a quiet cafe, just down Balestier road, a gem cafe hidden from the main road, and just waiting for us to visit.
That's what deal coupons are for, finding the unknown cafe and bringing it known.
Today's adventure is at Three Wombat Cafe.
First thing upon entering the cafe, I saw how small the place actually is. As told from the owner, it is just nice to sit 20 people
Not that it is a bad thing being small, but it makes the whole place very cosy in fact. One good place for a first date/dates.
Since our reservation was made, we took a table at a corner.
From our deal, we have a few selection of main to choose from, soup of the day and drinks.
We were very much tempted to order 'Finding Nemo' and go hey we found Nemo.
Instead, we ordered the Wombat's Baked Chicken, as well as the Beef Lasagna.
The staff was really friendly and attentive to our orders. And even the lady boss herself was such a lovely host.
Cooking took quite fast and before we know it, our soup was served together with the Baked Chicken. The Lasagna took a while but in the meanwhile, the time is used for taking pictures of the food (yes, we are typical Singaporean!).
Camera, Phone, Instagram, Facebook.
Every table had these fun-looking bookmarks for the sugar container.
Simple yet curious enough for us to take pictures of it.
Even stole one from the neighboring table for the picture, until we got caught by the boss and had to put it back.
Okay, not exactly caught but each table needed one of those.
Tender chicken with the awesome red wine rosemary sauce as recommended by the staff.
The soup of the day was chicken broth.
Served in an unique bowl with interesting ingredients, from onion to capsicum to tomato.
Finally our beef lasagna arrived.
We split our dishes into two to share, and mainly to have a taste of their thumbs up dishes.
Definitely enjoyed the baked chicken more to the beef lasagna, surprising since I'm more towards eating beef than chicken, but well, I got won over.
Fair and square.
What's next after the main course?
Couldn't help but to take a sneak peek into their dessert menu.
Dessert weren't included in our deal coupon, but since we're there and from taking peeks at other customer's meal, we had to see the dessert menu.
At first we settled on trying the Berri Pancakes.
But when the first dessert dish came, I had a big shock.
I mentioned that I wanted to have chocolate lava cake if they have, but it wasn't mentioned in the menu. Now suddenly I have it in front of me. Hahaha!
Apparently it was on their selection of cakes at the front counter and Ashley surprised me with this order.
So here my wish of eating it for dessert after all.
But unfortunately, I wasn't a good lava cake eater and well, it oozed out.
The volcano of chocolate just erupted!
Definitely a must to bake that one day for dessert. Sweet guilty pleasure that I need.
Finally our berri pancakes arrived.
Bias but I prefer the lava cake to the pancakes. Main thing I realized was the pancakes weren't fluffy enough, perhaps it wasn't buttermilk that they used.
But with the berry-flavored ice cream and the blueberries, and with a little scoop of the chocolate from the oozing lava cake, it made the perfect combination.
